In this solid “hard SF” novel, humans discover aliens by noticing distant bursts of radiation that have no natural explanation. A team of engaging human characters work out the meaning of the radiation. It’s not a message, rather they’re evidence of a distant interstellar war.
In addition to the story of humanity’s discovery of the aliens and the effects it has on Earth, the novel is also set among the alien races who are fighting the war.
I enjoyed this novel a lot. Reading it reminded me of the experience of reading the great classics of SF when I was much younger. It really deserves wider distribution that it’s likely to get as a Kindle-only book.
