“Where the West Ends: Stories from the Middle East, the Balkans, the Black Sea, and the Caucasus”

Michael J. Totten

The Middle East, the Balkans, the Caucasus, and the Black Sea: these are the regions that Michael J. Totten defines as “where the West ends”. The areas, as Totten describes them in this fascinating combination of travelogue and reportage, defy easy categorization. They’re a frontier where Western stereotypes – both liberal and conservative – don’t fit comfortably. I really enjoyed this book and my only criticism is that it’s too short.
